Today was such a beautiful day, I decided to go to Cantigny Park in Wheaton, Illinois to do some nature and landscape photography.    I was only there for a couple of hours, but it was time well spent, and came back home with over 600 images to sort through!  I’m still sorting, but I posted one of  landscape photos that I really liked.   It’s also for sale as a print through my e-commerce site.

There are a wonderful assortment of flowering trees and shrubs at Cantigny, and right now they are at the height of their beauty.   Normally, we don’t see flowers and buds until mid or late April, but this year all the plants are way ahead of schedule thanks to an extremely mild winter, and lots of warm, sunny days.

This photo was taken with my trusty Olympus E-3 digital camera, mounting the extremely high quality Olympus 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 SWD ED Mk II zoom.   To help give a bit of a kick to the colors, and add some depth to the sky, I added a circular polarizer filter on the end of the zoom, the very first time I’ve ever used one with that particular lens.   I love the results, and have a whole bunch photos like this that I need to sort and organize.

This is my very favorite time of the year, and in the last week, it seems every single plant of every kind is budding, flowering, and turning a wonderful shade of green.  It’s a time of rebirth and renewal, and my spirit is being renewed and reborn just being in an environment like this.
